ICYMI, “Physical: Asia” is the new spin-off of Netflix’s South Korean hit “Physical 100”. The show puts a global spin on its quest for the “perfect physique,” this time pitting eight countries against each other in a team battle for national pride. Featuring athletes from South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia, Turkey, Indonesia, Australia, and the Philippines, the show combines strength, endurance, and tactical prowess in a fight for the ultimate prize of 1 billion Korean won (around RM2,812,100).
However, a major aspect of the show is the iconic female contestants. Among tall and wide men, these women athletes are fierce, athletically gifted, and utterly charismatic. They prove that female strength comes in every form, making every episode impossible to look away from. Ahead, get to know the female contestants of Physical: Asia.
Choi Seung-yeon
Choi Seung-yeon, 26, is a CrossFit athlete and coach who became the first-ever athlete from South Korea to compete in the International CrossFit Games more than twice. She currently coaches at one of Korea’s most well-known gyms, CrossFit Limelight.
Jang Eun-sil
Jang Eun-sil, 34, is a former member of the South Korean national wrestling team who previously competed on the first season of “Physical 100”. She currently creates content on her YouTube channel and TikTok, where she tries out different sports and shares her active lifestyle.
Nonoka Ozaki
Nonoka Ozaki, 22, is a wrestler on Japan’s national team who won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 68kg women’s freestyle division. She’s also a two-time gold medallist at both the World Wrestling Championships and the Asian Wrestling Championships.
Kana Watanabe
Kana Watanabe, 37, is a Japanese MMA fighter who has competed in the flyweight division of Bellator MMA and the Professional Fighters League. Her professional record includes 13 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw.
Khandsuren Gantogtokh
Khandsuren Gantogtokh, 28, is a professional volleyball player who has been playing on Mongolia’s national team since 2015. She has also played in Japan for eight years. Currently, she’s on the Tokyo Sunbeams team in Japan’s V League.
Adiyasuren Amarsaikhan
Adiyasuren Amarsaikhan, 25, is a judo athlete who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics as part of Mongolia’s national team. She has won silver and bronze medals at the Asian Championships, as well as multiple silver and bronze medals at Grand Slam/Grand Prix competitions throughout her career.
Alexandra Milne
Alexandra Milne, 27, is a half-Filipina, half-Australian fitness coach and influencer for Move With Us, a global women’s training platform. She has a background in competitive cheerleading and gym training.
Katelin van Zyl
Katelin van Zyl, 34, is a former professional hockey player who now competes as a CrossFit and Hyrox athlete. In 2024, she ranked 13th among female CrossFit athletes worldwide. She also competed as the Raven on “Gladiators: Australia”.
Nefise Karatay
Nefise Karatay, 25, is a former national-champion runner who competed in the 60-meter and 100-meter hurdles. She also competed on “Survivor Türkiye” in 2023 and 2024.
Yasemin Adar Yiğit
Yasemin Adar Yiğit, 34, is a former Turkish national team wrestler in the freestyle 76kg category. She’s a seven-time European champion and a two-time world champion. She has also won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Lara Lorraine Deang Liwanag
Lara Liwanag, 31, is a CrossFit athlete who has ranked first among all Filipina competitors in the 2024 CrossFit Games Open. Currently, she co-owns Barn Fitness, a gym in Angeles, Pampanga.
Fina Philippe
Fina Phillipe, 35, is a jiujitsu athlete, actress and TV personality. She has competed in various jiujitsu competitions and has clinched gold at the Jakarta Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open in 2019.
Maria Selena
Maria Selena, 35, is an actress and TV personality who formerly played professional basketball in the WNBL Indonesia league. She was also Miss Puteri Indonesia 2011 and represented Indonesia in Miss Universe 2012.
Jar Jar Uracha Teerawanitsan
Jar Jar Uracha Teerawanitsan is a famed CrossFit athlete who helped popularise the sport in Thailand. She was the first Thai athlete to be invited to the World CrossFit Games, and has been ranked first in Thailand’s CrossFit ranking from 2017 to 2023.
