Horror films and TV series are a great way to spend Halloween, letting you immerse yourself in stories that will have your heart racing with suspense. However, it’s not quite the same as actually experiencing the horror yourself.
While we don’t recommend creating your own frightening scenarios by summoning demons or sneaking into a creepy neighbour’s house, there is a way to enjoy those spine-chilling thrills safely, and that is through the magic of video games. Bye Sweet Carole

When Disney meets horror. “Bye Sweet Carole” is a narrative-horror adventure game completely hand-drawn in the style of classic animated films. Follow the trail of missing Carole Simmons and uncover the dark secrets hidden behind her disappearance from Bunny Hall orphanage.

Little Nightmares 3

In the third instalment of the popular franchise, “Little Nightmares”, you follow the journey of Low and Alone, two best friends in search of a way out of the Nowhere. Through two-player online cooperation or solo with an A.I., work together to solve puzzles and survive in this nightmarish world.

The Lacerator

Tormented Souls 2

Picking up where they left off in the first game, “Tormented Souls 2” follows Caroline Walker exploring the decaying remains of the secluded Villa Hess, using improvised weapons to confront terrifying creatures, and bend the fabric of reality to save her sister from a twisted cult.

Luto

This one was released sometime in the middle of the year. “Luto” is a psychological horror experience where you take on the role of someone unable to leave their home. Every attempt to escape will lead you deeper into the unknown, where nothing is as it seems and everything will test your senses.

Shift At Midnight

What would you do if you came across a doppelgänger? Set in a rural 90s petrol station, “Shift At Midnight” is a survival game, where you work the graveyard shift to figure out if your customers are doppelgängers. Examine their ID, cross-check their details in the computer, and observe their behaviour until your shift ends. Can you survive the night?

Who’s At The Door?

You are trapped in a small house with psychosis, having lost your memory. Carefully observe your surroundings, distinguish between reality and hallucinations, and take the medication provided by visitors on time to overcome your illness.

Silent Hill F

The “Silent Hill” franchise never fails to captivate its fans. Unlike previous instalments, “Silent Hill f” is a standalone spin-off from the original series. Set in the 1960s in the fictional Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, it follows high school student Hinako Shimizu as she navigates a fog-consumed town, solving puzzles and battling grotesque monsters in a desperate fight for survival.

BONUS: Dreadout 3

Here’s one a little closer to home, and we all can agree that Asian ghosts are a lot scarier. When the Indonesian horror game “Dreadout” was first released back in 2014, it became one of the most popular horror games among YouTubers. It even received a live-action film adaptation in 2019. Now, the story continues with the 3rd instalment.
Follow Linda’s journey as a Keeper of the Dark into an interdimensional rabbit hole to find the source of unseen power threatening the balance of light and darkness. The game is set for a 2026 release, but we still believe it’s worth mentioning to get you excited for next Halloween.
