Finding out that you have a disease can be devastating – especially when the news is life altering. Recently, former Taiwanese actress Rosalyn Ku (顧婕) revealed to the public that she has been diagnosed with cancer.
The actress-turned-entrepreneur, also known as Goo Git, previously hinted to fans on social media about a piece of unfortunate news. It turns out the 57-year-old had been diagnosed with cancer after doctors detected a malignant tumour in her rectum and sigmoid colon. Rosalyn was admitted to the Beijing Medical University at the end of April to undergo surgery to remove the tumour. Before the surgery, doctors told her that she would recover after the procedure and that she wouldn’t need chemotherapy.
Unfortunately, her condition turned out to be worse than she and the doctors had expected. According to news reports, Rosalyn’s cancer cells had metastasised and spread to other parts of her body. The public figure’s survival rate remains unclear, but reports say it’s going downwards. Rosalyn will stay at the hospital until further notice to receive subsequent treatment. However, Rosalyn has had a long history of health issues because she previously shared that she had problems relating to her bowel movement.
The entrepreneur once revealed that she had bloody stools for about a year and had issues with constipation for over 20 years. Rosalyn admitted that she would ignore these issues and relied on medication to relieve the symptoms. Unfortunately, it seemed that these medications had also gradually damaged her body. Rosalyn had also notably received several plastic surgeries over the years. While it’s unsure if the cosmetic procedures had any correlation to her cancer diagnosis, they may have increased her risk.
News outlets reported that Rosalyn will hold a press conference soon to disclose her condition. For now, we can only wish the best to the public figure and may she overcome this challenge in her life.
