Nearly two weeks ago, Dream Factory Entertainment and Watsons Malaysia announced the full details of the highly anticipated KFINITY Music Festival, set to take place at Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon, on 1 November. The organiser also unveiled the line-up of K-pop artists, with two of them set to return to our shores for the upcoming concert.
The confirmed idols set to take the stage include BIGBANG’s Taeyang, 2NE1’s Minzy, iKON’s Ju-ne, Thama and Sole. In the original announcement, however, it was stated that a surprise artist would soon be added to the line-up. Fans have since submitted their guesses, and it now looks like we finally have our answer.
Since last week, Dream Factory Entertainment has unveiled the official posters for each artist confirmed to perform at the upcoming KFINITY Music Festival. A new poster was shared daily, leaving fans in anticipation of who the sixth K-pop idol might be. The wait is now over: it has been revealed that the surprise artist joining the festival is none other than former GFRIEND member Yuju (유주/최유나)!
Widely praised as the group’s main vocalist, she remained active in the industry and made her solo debut in 2022, following GFRIEND’s disbandment the previous year. She also took part in the reunion concert and album earlier this year to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary. While it remains uncertain when Malaysian fans will have the chance to see GFRIEND reunite for a live performance, watching one of the former members showcase her talents at a music festival is surely the next best thing.

Shortly after the official announcement, any fans who were still undecided about attending were quickly swayed, with many expressing their excitement at the chance to see the K-pop star perform live on stage alongside her fellow idols. Some even voiced hopes of one day seeing Yuju reunite with the rest of GFRIEND in Kuala Lumpur, which may not be entirely impossible given the huge success of 2NE1’s reunion tour.
Are you excited about the announcement? Tickets will go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday, 30th September) at 1pm, so be sure to set your reminders and secure those passes!
