Food Review: Ei8ht Avenue @ Pavilion KL Is A Hawker-Style Ei8ht-stravaganza!

If you’ve heard of Ei8ht Avenue, that’s probably because there’s an outlet in Pavilion Bukit Jalil. But your options have widened, ladies and gentlemen, because a second outlet has just opened in Pavilion KL!

Ei8ht Avenue is a collection of food outlets offering hawker-style, non-halal heritage dishes and regional street food in an open dining concept. With a seating capacity of 450 and spanning about 15,000 sq ft, this food atrium is not your ordinary food court.

Featuring 17 different stalls, each vendor handpicks the ingredients for its wholesome dishes that are super affordable for customers. These vendors offer a wide selection of locally-known and delectable fare, such as wanton noodles, chicken rice and braised beef rice, and even kopitiam staples, like toasted bread with soft boiled eggs. They also offer other common comfort food like char kuey teow, hokkien mee, claypot styled rice as well as claypot curry fish head.

We had a chance to dine at Ei8ht Avenue recently, and here’s a report on our experience!

KimHot Dumplings

For starters, we dug in to juicy and savoury dumplings. Available in two flavours: Mushroom and Pork, and Mutton, the dumplings will not disappoint and are the perfect way to kickstart your meal. Moist, juicy and savoury, both dumplings taste super good and you can enhance the flavour by dipping them in some soy sauce.

Sizzling/Claypot series

If you’re craving sizzling or claypot meals, Ei8ht Avenue is full of them. Claypot dishes have been among the stalwarts of the Malaysian food scene. Simply because the taste is so very distinctive. For yummy bah kut teh, check out the famous Min BKT Authentic which is well-known in Klang. Bah kut teh lovers will definitely enjoy this, like we did. The soup itself tasted so good and flavourful. The meat was also tender and they even had some tofu in it. This is the perfect meal for rainy and cold days.

For something savoury and creamy, check out Kepong Ah Go Go’s Signature Grouper Curry Fish Head. Starting off as a small stall selling stir-fry dishes in Kepong, this famous eatery later introduced its signature grouper curry fish head, which features fresh grouper complimented with fried fish, fish meat, bean sprouts, tofu and cockles. All you need to enjoy this fish curry is just some white rice. It’s very different from Indian and Malay style fish curry. In fact, it’s super creamy and the flavour was so balanced. This fish curry is perfect for those who have low tolerance for spicy food. It was so good, that we decided to tapau some home!

Cardio While Shopping? 7 Klang Valley Malls That You Can Go To Get Your Steps In

Sedap Syok

From the northern reaches of Penang, Sedap Syok is a family operation headed by Chef Hee, who offers baba nyonya and Penang recipes that quickly became famous among foodies in the Klang Valley. Their beautiful and savoury nasi lemak comes with aromatic pandan rice served with unadulterated sambal and the fusion pork curry. It’s simply the best version of nasi lemak we’ve ever had. Apart from regular satays, do try their pork satay. Served with tasty peanut sauce and condiments, we guarantee you’ll never have satay the same way again.

Fullbud

If you’re craving super simple but tasty Taiwanese food, Fullbud is the place to go. Inspired by the understated luxury style of Formosa, the chefs of Fullbud prepare heartwarming and authentic Taiwanese dishes with handpicked fresh ingredients. A must try item is the Signature Braised Pork Rice. Served with just white rice, braised pork and some veggies, this is a very simple yet satisfying meal to enjoy at any time of the day.

Noodle Delights

If rice isn’t your thing, fret not, because this place serves lots of noodle options too.

Start with the classic Hokkien mee from Petaling Street Hokkien Mee. Slurp on this delicious signature dish that comes with a burst of flavour and generous amount of prawns. For something hearty and warm, go for the Ipoh Hor Fun Soup with Shredded Chicken and Prawn by Wei Hong Ipoh Hor Fun. Perfectly cooked noodles topped with chicken broth and fresh prawns, this dish will make you go back for more.

If you’re looking for some extra kick in your noodles, check out Liji Lala Noodle. This is definitely a one-of-a-kind noodle soup, because the taste is simply different. You can taste the strong essence of Chinese wine along with other ingredients, giving you a whole new noodle experience. The best part about Li Ji Lala Noodles is that the lala used to prepare the meals are brought in fresh. The owners of this eatery ensures quality and flavour of each ingredient in order to give customers a quality seafood experience.

Wonder Soup

Double boiling is a Chinese cooking technique that is used to extract maximum flavour with little compromise to the texture or taste of ingredients used. With the introduction of modern techniques to traditional culinary practice, you get to enjoy premium double boiled soups right here at Wonder Soup. While preserving traditional taste, the soups offered here are healthy and tasty. We tried the Ginseng Root Chicken Soup. It was good, but if you’re not used to herbal or traditional soups, the taste might be too strong to handle. Nonetheless, it’s always good to try something new and healthy.

Yong Tau Fu

One of the best things to look for at food courts or hawker stalls is defintiely yong tau fu. In case you didn’t know, yong tau fu means stuffed beancurd. But they’re not just beancurd – it also refers to other beancurd-based things such as beancurd loaded with meat, soya puffs, ladies’ fingers, chilli and brinjal. So, for any yong tau fu lovers out there, you’re more than welcome to check out a new yong tau fu spot right at Ei8ht Avenue. With lots of variety to choose from, we assure you it’s not gonna be enough with one round. Not to mention that they have this amazing sweet sauce that makes the yong tau fu taste extra good. While you pick on some yong tau fu, don’t forget to grab some chee cheong fun too. These two dishes definitely go hand-in-hand.

Lucky Fountain

With all the amazing food offered, surely you’ll need something to quench your thirst. Lucky Fountain offers a wide range of beverages, from coffee to tea and other cool drinks. For boba fans, OJA has some pretty cool and yummy drinks too. A must try are the OJA Signature Milk Tea, OJA Lucky Full and OJA Classic Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea. So good, so refreshing and simply boba-licious!

For dessert, you can try siew paos at Kee Mei Siew Pow. Kee Mei offers traditional handmade siew pow, egg tart and bean paste biscuits that are popular and so good. We tried the siew pao and it was heaven. It’s like having a sweet but savoury treat at the same time. Along with traditional pastries, Kee Mei also offers modern pastries like croissant and Mexican bun.

Ei8ht Avenue is definitely a paradise for foodies. It has so many choices and unique offerings. Also, dining here is really convenient. Unlike other food courts with limited space and long queues, Ei8ht Avenue offers ample dining space and bright areas that make you feel comfortable. The best thing here is that this food court uses cashless payment. To meet the current trend, Ei8ht Avenue allows customers to order online through QR codes on each table. You get to browse through every outlet’s menu with only your phone. After ordering, just pay and wait for food to arrive at your table. Hassle-free indeed!

Be sure to check our Ei8ht Avenue and try out all the amazing food and great atmosphere it has to offer.
