Yesterday (Monday, 8th April) fans were devastated by the news that DOLLA member Syasya is leaving the group. It was announced on the girl group’s socials that the singer would no longer participate in future projects or activities due to personal reasons.
iDOLLAs (DOLLA fans) all took to Twitter to express their heartbreak about her departure. However, ever since the announcement, many also began speculating exactly why the now-former member left the group just as they’re reaching the peak of their career. Here’s what they said:
Since it was never specified, rumours and speculations began circulating all over social media as to why Syasya decided to leave DOLLA. As seen in the screenshots below, the most popular theory is possibly due to family conflict, or more specifically, regarding the 23-year-old’s revealing stage outfits.
Last year, the singer’s grandmother, veteran actress Rozie Othman stated her disapproval of her granddaughter’s sexy lifestyle and has advised her to cover up on multiple occasions. Since DOLLA is known for their hard-hitting, sexy choreography and empowering lyrics, it made sense to fans why it would be improper for a modestly dressed singer to perform such songs and dance routines in front of an audience.
Others speculated that Syasya may want to further her studies as she was once a medical student with a bachelor’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology before pursuing her music career with DOLLA. There were also a few who theorised that she left due to internal conflict with her label and members as her withdrawal is so sudden but according to their social media pages, though Syaya has removed the “1/4 of Dolla” from her Instagram bio, she’s still following her former groupmates and company and vice versa.
Could it also be due to health issues? Until Syasya is ready to speak up, we will never know the exact reasons why she chose to withdraw herself from DOLLA. Now begs the question: Will DOLLA proceed as a trio or will they recruit a new member? Some netizens, including influencer ElmiElmo, jokingly said that he would step in as the new member of the popular girl group while others gave “suggestions” on who should fill in Syasya’s position.
While recruiting new talent isn’t exactly new in the industry, the new member would still need to earn fans’ approval. This would take time and plenty of adjustments as they’d have big shoes to fill. If DOLLA decides to proceed as a trio, there’s no doubt that fans will still support them in their future endeavours.
