Thousands of fans mourn the death of Thai actor Akkaphan Namart (อรรคพันธ์ นะมาตร์), who is fondly known as Om (อ๋อม). The actor died on the morning of 22nd September 2024 (Sunday) at the age of 39 after succumbing to a rare form of cancer.
The actor’s agency, Channel 7, announced his death via their Facebook page. In the post, the broadcasting network listed Om’s representative works, including Satja Nai Chum Joan (สัจจะในชุมโจร) and Guardian of The Sea (ราชนาวีที่รัก), in which he starred as the male lead. Channel 7 also extended their condolences to the late star’s family and friends. While the Facebook post never mentioned the cause of death, Om reportedly passed away due to cardiac muscle cancer.

The late celebrity was first diagnosed with the rare form of cancer in 2022. Om had undergone chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumour, revealing that doctors successfully removed the tumour in 2023. He also went on hiatus to focus on recovery but continued to update about his progress on his social media. Despite briefly stepping from the spotlight, the star made a rare public appearance in May 2024 at an event in Thailand. Fans who met him then noted that he looked cheerful and healthy as he took photos with them.
Following the announcement of Om’s death, his fans took to social media to mourn his sudden passing. Many sent their condolences to his family and wished them strength during these trying times. Some were shocked that he was gone so soon, even saying they looked forward to his return. Several Thai celebrities, including actresses Peechaya “Min” Wattanamontree (มิน พีชญา วัฒนามนตรี) and Fonthip “Pooklook” Watcharatrakul (ปุ๊กลุก ฝนทิพย์ วัชรตระกูล), who co-starred with Om, also posted on social media to mourn his death.

Om will be greatly missed by his fans and colleagues, but his talent will live on through his many works. We extend our condolences to his family and friends, and may they find solace in the time of his death.
