We’ve already talked about how down-right physically BEAUTIFUL some of this season’s Formula One drivers are. However, did you know that some of your favourite racers are also straight fashion icons when it comes to serving only the best looks on the paddock? Yes! These drivers know how to not only win races and steal hearts with their charmingly good looks – some of them know how to dress the part as well!
Although there aren’t many who pull up to the paddock in their best fits, there are four drivers who do that we absolutely ADORE! So without further ado, here are our favourite paddock fashionistas:
1. Michael Schumacher
Of course, the only right way to start this off is with racing legend, Michael Schumacher. When we think of him, we think of that iconic bright red Ferrari racing suit – after all, he did win five of his seven championships in that suit. That being said, Schumacher still did NOT AT ALL let his intense concentration on racing interfere with his fashion experimenting, either!
He was a strong driver who did not back down from a challenge and drove his car to the absolute limit. And all that confidence is DEFINITELY reflected in his paddock fashion choices – he ATE!
2. Fernando Alonso
Next up, we have two time world champion Fernando Alonso. Nobody will ever forget how he pulled off this one particularly iconic look when he was still racing for Renault in the early 2000s. He wore an oversized Renault shirt, a matching blue headband, a seashell necklace and sunglasses.
Instead of the sponsors wearing him as a walking billboard, HE wore the sponsors. SLAY!
3. Lewis Hamilton
You may have noticed that we only discussed two considerably older drivers since, in reality, fashion, particularly paddock fashion, is dying among the “younger” F1 drivers. However, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is without a doubt, our current fashion front-runner on the grid.
Rain or shine, Hamilton transforms the paddock into his own runway to display his extravagant wardrobe. Lewis decides to dress in a way that will draw even more attention to himself. EVERYONE notices him, and everyone knows that he’s there, shattering record after record.
4. Zhou Guanyu
Zhou Guanyu, the first and only Chinese driver in Formula 1, also acknowledged Hamilton’s bold fashion sense for giving him more confidence to express himself in the paddock through clothing as well. And it’s safe to say that Zhou is most definitely SERVING when it comes to his paddock looks.
His outfits are so striking and unique in his own ways, you don’t even need a pole position to notice him! (that was funny, allow it).
