Being in the spotlight is never an easy task. More often than not, local netizens will always have something to point out in regard to what the celebs have said or done. Take what happened with footballer Akhyar Rashid for example.
Akhyar came under fire over a post he uploaded on his Instagram. The young athlete treated his fans with some sizzling shots of himself hanging at the beach. That being said, a lot of people were more focused on a small item donned by Akhyar in the photo.
The 23-year-old was spotted donning an earring on his left ear. He also wore a faux pearl necklace. The comments section on the IG post was flooded with negative remarks from a bunch of holier-than-thou netizens. Some even called him out for “embarrassing the Malay people” with his choice of accessories.
Not to mention, Akhyar was also frowned upon for exposing his aurat. One netizen wrote, “Wearing of earrings by Muslim males is not allowed. It’s also considered ‘haram’ for men to wear a necklace. It’s also a sin if you don’t cover your ‘aurat’ (wearing short pants).” Another netizen added, “You’re bringing shame on the Malays for wearing earrings. You think it’s fashionable, is it?”
That being said, the JDT player seems unbothered by the nasty comments left by the online trolls.
