Taiwanese singer and actress Ella Chen (陳嘉樺) earned the nickname “Malaysian daughter-in-law” after tying the knot with Malaysian business Alvin Lai (赖斯翔). The star also regularly returns to her husband’s hometown in Malacca to celebrate Chinese New Year with her in-laws.
Recently, Ella shared several photos through Instagram, revealing she’s already back in Malaysia to celebrate the upcoming festivities. Funnily enough, one of her first orders of business upon returning to Malaysia was hunting down some local delicacies. Ella revealed she had prawn noodles with pork ribs and curry laksa with roasted pork. It was the singer’s first time having prawn noodles, and she praised the flavour, saying it was “super delicious!”.

After finishing her meal, Ella then posted a photo of her looking very satisfied and rubbing her belly. The captions of the photo wrote, “the consequences of eating too fast”, prompting fans to coo over her adorable reaction. Besides chowing down on bowls of noodles, the S.H.E member also had her first yee sang of the year. In true Malaysian fashion, she even shouted out “Heng Ah, Ong Ah, Huat Ah” while tossing the dish.
As the Chinese New Year festivities have yet to begin, Ella and her family are resting well before the busy week ahead. Over the weekend, the 43-year-old shared videos of her son Daniel playing with firecrackers and swimming with other children, likely his relatives. Ella also shared a photo of her chilling by the pool, taking full advantage of the warm Malaysian weather.

It appears that Ella is enjoying her time with her family in Malaysia. We wish her and her family a joyous Chinese New Year celebration and hope to see more of her Malaysian trip soon.
