Donald Trump Reacts To His Cameo Being Cut From “Home Alone 2”

For those who have watched “Home Alone 2: Lost In New York”, you might remember a surprise cameo from the current president of the United State (POTUS), Donald Trump.

However, Canadian viewers on Christmas Day had a different version of the sequel film. Trump’s appearance in the comedy was cut from Canadian broadcast channel CBC.

The cut has sparked outrage among many Trump supporters with the president’s own son, Donald Trump Jr., taking to his Twitter account to voice out his displeasure at the editing decision. In the tweet, Trump Jr. called the broadcaster “pathetic” while implying that the move was politically motivated.

Though the cut does seems like a political move at first, with the US president currently being impeached, it was later revealed that the decision to edit out the scene was not a recent occurrence.

As pointed out by CBC’s head of public affair, Chuck Thompson, the cut was actually made in 2014, before Trump even announced that he was running for the presidency. The reason for the decision was simply to save time and include commercials.

As many are asking…
CBC’s airing of Home Alone 2 was edited for time. This happens regularly with films adapted for television. The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot. These edits were done in 2014.

On the other hand, Trump seems to have a more humorous take on the new version, saying, “I guess Justin T (Canadian Prime Minister) doesn’t much like my making him pay up on NATO or Trade!” The tweet was referring to the friction the two leaders had, in regards to their disagreement on major policy issues and trade dispute.

“The Apprentice” star would later send out another tweet regarding the incident. It reads, “the movie will never be the same! (just kidding)”. The former TV personality has always been very proud of his cameo scene in the film.

“Well I’m in ‘Home Alone 2’, and a lot of people mention it every year, especially around Christmas,” he was quoted as saying, adding that, “it’s been a good movie and I was a little younger, to put it mildly. And it was an honour to do it.”

For those that are curious, the scene in question was one where Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, got stuck in New York – while his family was having a vacation in Miami. In the scene, we see the main star asking Trump on directions to the lobby at The Plaza hotel.
