Local internet personality Valent (鄔唯) surprised many when she revealed a career change on 31st March. Much like content creators Gatita Yan and MsPuiyi, Valent was apparently about to follow in their footsteps. Yup, the influencer had decided to switch to being a DJ!
Like her fans, Valent had been very excited for her first-ever gig, which was supposed to take place last Saturday (8th April). Unfortunately, her show and debut got interrupted when the bar was raided by the police!
Valent had been hyping her fans and followers up for her debut since the beginning of the month. According to budding DJ, her first show was to take place at 10pm that Saturday at 09Playground in Subang. It would allegedly be her first time performing live and to prove her skills as an up-and-coming DJ. Unfortunately, Valent didn’t even get the chance to perform.
On Sunday (9th April), the influencer shared that her debut hadn’t gone as planned. “I only took a few photos, and (hadn’t even gone) on stage yet,” Valent said. “There was an unexpected situation where the police came and the bar was forced to close down.” She also lamented at the amount of preparation gone to waste, adding that she was sorely disappointed.
However, she had been encouraged by the fact that the tables in the bar had been full. “I’m really happy that so many people (were there),” she commented. “I am also really sorry to all (my) friends and fans who came to support (me).” Valent acknowledged that some had even visited from other states. Still, she did have some good news to share. “We will hold another debut night soon, wait for our latest news!” she promised.
Fans and fellow creators, like Lim Shang Jin, were quick to cheer her up, reassuring Valent that they were still supportive of her debut. Several wished her well for her next show, hoping she would have fun. One even explained the raid, attributing it to the holy month of Ramadan. “Many events have to postpone to avoid these kinds of situations,” they added.
Well, her unsuccessful debut must certainly be a disappointment for Valent. But, we’re certain she’ll be well on her way to making a name for herself in the DJ scene soon, just like these other local popular DJ-influencers. In the meantime, we wish her all the best!
