Marvel is preparing for Vision to meet its maker. Disney, as of late, has been having a lot of misses in its wave of direct-to-streaming series such as “She-Hulk” and “Ms. Marvel.” However, everyone remembers the epic story of WandaVision, where the Scarlet Witch does her damnedest to bring back her lost robotic lover. The series has been hailed as the best show in the streaming giant’s catalogue, second only to “Loki.”
Much like Loki, Disney is thinking of closing out the series with another wave of episodes, this time focussing primarily on the empathetic android. For those unaware of the recent Marvel news, Vision will be having his own standalone series that is set to premiere in 2026, with Paul Bettany reprising his role as the heroic robot. So far, we have no title for this upcoming Vision series, which is said to be set right after the events of WandaVision.
Terry Matalas, the executive producer of “Star Trek: Picard,” will be the series’ showrunner. This is because Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, loved Matala’s work on Picard Season 3 and wanted to use his talents for a very nuanced character like Vision.
In the series WandaVision, Vision was brought back to life by Wanda’s magic and the power of grief, but he now takes on a new ghostly white appearance, a stark contrast to his previously red-green colour palette. The upcoming series revolves around the titular character looking for a new purpose in life. However, you can’t have Vision without his other half, which is why Marvel has decided to bring back James Spader to the MCU so he can reprise his role as Ultron.
As to why and how Ultron returns is anyone’s guess, as we all saw him die at the end of 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” But we might soon get our answer. Marvel has confirmed that the story of Wanda and Vision is actually broken down into a three-part series, starting off with WandaVision, followed by “Agatha All Along,” which is slated for release this year, and then closing out with the upcoming Vision series. Perhaps somewhere down the line, we might see how Ultron comes back and if he will make a comeback to the big screen.
