Disney+ has been available for more than a year now. When Disney hired a Malaysian to spearhead the Disney+ team, many of us were hopeful that it’ll debut here soon.
On 24th January, two Malaysia-specific social media pages for the service went live – namely Facebook and Instagram. The page activation was based on a post below.

Both pages only had one post; a blue screen with the word ‘LOADING’ in white letters. Disney+ Singapore’s Twitter page had used an identical post leading up to the service’s official launch date, on 11th December 2020.
In case you’re puzzled by the official Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia title, Hotstar is an on-demand streaming platform which Disney acquired in 2019. It was used to launch the first Disney+ in Indonesia last September.
While this seemed like it would lead to an official announcement of the launch, the Disney+ Hotstar MY Facebook and Instagram accounts were deactivated today.
No updates have been given but many are still anticipating the official announcement. Hopefully, the service will be available to Malaysia soon.
