Korean singer-producer DEPT (뎁트) is currently on his DREAM AGE tour across Asia and was set to return to Kuala Lumpur next month. He was scheduled to perform at The Exchange Hall in OUG, the same venue where he held his first show last year.
Fans were delighted at the prospect of his comeback, but their hopes of seeing him live will now have to wait. It has been confirmed that the upcoming concert has been cancelled. Here’s what we know:

On Thursday (11th September), DEPT shared the unfortunate news on his official music Instagram page, confirming that his Kuala Lumpur concert will no longer go ahead due to unavoidable circumstances. “We have been preparing earnestly for this performance, and it is with great regret that we deliver this news. We deeply apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience this may cause,” the statement reads.
The singer promised that he’ll make up for the cancellation by returning to Malaysia in the future. Strangely, there was no mention of a refund process for fans who had purchased tickets, and even the organiser, Banyak Bagus Entertainment (BBE), has yet to issue a statement regarding the cancellation. As soon as the announcement went live on social media, fans voiced their disappointment, having looked forward to seeing him perform.

Some questioned the reason behind the cancellation, while others speculated it may have been due to low ticket sales. A few also noted that Banyak Bagus Entertainment had cancelled several other events earlier this year, including American rock band Boyce Avenue’s concert in April and Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi’s (坂口健太郎) fan meeting in June. It is also worth noting that BBE did not post any cancellation announcements on their official social media platforms for those events either.
Fans also claimed that they have yet to receive refunds from the previously cancelled events. These kinds of cancellations are not uncommon, but it’s still disappointing that fans have to wait a little longer to see their favourite artist live in person. Let’s hope that DEPT will make a grand return to KL next year and that there will be an update on the ticket refund process so that fans can get their money back.
