A Datuk Seri who reportedly escaped by climbing over a fence at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) building earlier this week, had help from his bodyguards.

The main suspect in the money laundering syndicate, “Macau Scam”, reportedly pulled the stunt to avoid police custody after securing bail.

According to a source, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the suspect climbing over the fence with the help of his two bodyguards, with a Perodua Myvi waiting on the other side to drive him away. This occured after a commotion ensued when the suspects and other detainees refused to get out of the car due to the large presence of policemen waiting.

The police had agreed earlier with the MACC officers and lawyers of detainees that they would wait at the main entrance outside the MACC headquarters. It was reported that the suspect was already on his way to the front gate in a Toyota Vellfire with his lawyer, bodyguards, and driver, before getting out of the vehicle between the lobby door and main gate, to escape.

Bernama reported that the other three Toyota Vellfires carrying eight other detainees were halted by the police while passing through the MACC building’s main gate. All eight of them were then detained by the police, during which the police were made aware of the main suspect’s disappearance.

When the news first unveiled of the suspect climbing over MACC building’s high fence to escape, a lot of netizens questioned the possibility of it. Here are some of their reactions:

Goddamn #MACC #SPRM, what did you guys feed the guy while he's being questioned. How the hell did he do? Please release the CCTV footage, #Malaysia needs to see this miracle.#MacauScam https://t.co/h0OYWApreO

In a related news, the MACC has seized 23 luxury vehicles owned by the “Macau Scam” syndicate, including a Mustang, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, and Porsche, along with several high-performance motorcycles.
