Universal Pictures’ “Bride of Frankenstein” is slated for release on 14th February 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Penned by “Jurassic Park” writer David Koepp, the upcoming remake, which is part of the studio’s monster shared universe named Dark Universe, will be directed by “Beauty and the Beast” helmer Bill Condon.

“Bride of Frankenstein” was first released in 1935. Directed by James Whale, the titular character was played by British-born American actress Elsa Lanchester. The critically-acclaimed film grossed approximately USD2 million and is lauded as “the finest of all gothic horror movies”.

The remake is described as the “story of a very modern woman in a very classic tale.” In a press statement, Condon said that he is very excited to bring a new “Bride of Frankenstein” to life on screen. He added, “The ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ remains the most iconic female monster in film history, and that’s a testament to (James) Whale’s masterpiece, which endures as one of the greatest movies ever made.”
