Some businesses change their names to reflect new partnerships or ownership. However, the new names rarely stray far from the original. However, the new name of Subang’s Da Men Mall is such a huge jump that netizens can’t help but poke fun at it.
Earlier this week, social media posts emerged alleging that Da Men Mall in Subang is changing its name as part of the mall’s major revamp. The mall has been undergoing renovations since April as part of the revamp process. Most recently, it was revealed that Da Men Mall will soon change its name to Easyhome Smart Home Life Experience Centre (ESHLEC) to reflect the new partnership between Da Men’s management, Pavilion REIT, and Easyhome International Group.

One social media post also shared a statement issued by Easyhome International. In the statement, the company said the new management team promises customers “an unprecedented smart home shopping and modern lifestyle experience”. Additionally, the management aims to promote ESHLEC as a one-stop destination for customers seeking smart home solutions, home furnishing, automotive vehicles and digital technologies.
For those unfamiliar with Da Men Mall, the mall is located in Subang Jaya and opened its doors in 2016. Sadly, the mall isn’t very popular, and many locals even consider it a “dead mall” because of the lack of customers. However, earlier this year, Pavilion REIT partnered with Easyhome International with plans to revamp the mall to give a new image and attract more traffic. The mall is expected to relaunch as ESHLEC in August.

Unfortunately, the new name hasn’t attracted positive reactions. On social media, netizens joked about the ESHLEC name, mostly because of the length. Some even joked that the name would be a handful to type into navigation apps. On the other hand, some lamented that those familiar with the mall will still end up calling it Da Men out of habit, rendering the new name useless.
Only time will tell whether the revamp is enough to revive this Subang mall – but what are your thoughts? Would you be interested in visiting Da Men Mall once it becomes Easyhome Smart Home Life Experience Centre?
