The entertainment industry has introduced the public to many talented child actors who captured viewers’ attention with their charms and commendable acting skills despite their young age. There have been many child stars who would continue their careers in entertainment. Others instead leave the show business to pursue a different path.
If you grew up watching many Hong Kong dramas and films from the mid-to-late 1990s, you may be familiar with a child actor named Tony Tse (谢子峰). He starred in many popular TVB dramas, such as “Fate of the Clairvoyant (再見亦是老婆)”, “A Recipe for the Heart (美味天王)”, and “Lady Flower Fist (苗翠花)”. Tony’s most notable work was when he played the child version of Ekin Cheng in the cult classic, “The Storm Riders (風雲:雄霸天下)”. However, despite already having an impressive acting resume at a young age, Tony never pursued acting as an adult and seemed to have faded out of the spotlight after his last gig.

While it’s common for child actors to leave the industry and pursue other careers, this particular former actor’s current occupation may be the most drastic change – because it turns out that Tony grew up to be part of the police force. Netizens previously discovered that Tony is now the Chief Inspector of the Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau under the Hong Kong Police Force. The bureau is responsible for investigating and combating money laundering and terrorist financing activities.
Despite his position in the team, netizens didn’t learn about Tony’s new career path until he appeared at a press conference to speak about a case. As shown in pictures from the press conference, the now 36-year-old Tony looks just like he did when he was younger – just grown up. According to reports, Tony was previously affiliated with the Narcotics Investigation Bureau and served as part of the Media Liaison Team.

We wonder what it’s like to go from acting to catching criminals. Nevertheless, we applaud Tony for doing his duty and serving his country. What are your thoughts on this extreme career change?
