Covid-19 Malaysia: Not A Lockdown But Movement Restriction Order

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 Mac -- GELOMBANG KEDUA ... Pemakaian topeng muka oleh orang ramai dilihat sudah menjadi kebiasaan sebagai langkah pencegahan susulan penularan COVID-19 ketika tinjauan di sekitar ibu kota hari ini.Orang ramai kini mengambil langkah pencegahan ekoran penularan COVID-19 seperti mengelak daripada mengunjungi tempat tumpuan ramai, memakai topeng muka serta mengamalkan tahap kebersihan diri yang tinggi. Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has just made his official announcement moments ago. It’s not a lockdown, but a nationwide health precaution is being imposed.

Now that Malaysia is currently Southeast Asia’s highest recorded cases (553 as at time of writing), the government is taking drastic measures in tackling Covid-19.

Effective from this Wednesday (18th March 2020) onwards, the nationwide measure under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Police Act 1967 will carry on till the end of the month (31st Match).

There is no curfew per se, but the public is encourage to stay at home as all public movement and mass gatherings are being restricted. Here are 6 highlights to note:

2. Full ban on overseas travel for Malaysians. Those returning from overseas, they must undergo health screening and self-quarantine for 14 days.

4. Closure of kindergartens, government and public schools, boarding schools, international schools, tahfiz centres and all primary, secondary and pre-university educational institutions.

6. Closure of ALL government and private premises except those providing essential services: among them, water, electricity, telcos, postal services, transportation, fuel, broadcast services, banks, healthcare, pharmacies, airports, security, defence, food supplies…
