Remember the story about a couple who ‘advised’ their guests to not attend their wedding reception if they could not give RM 300 angpow? Well, we came across another weird wedding invitation that has us wondering if this is the start of a new trend.

On Tuesday (12th July), a tweet about a wedding invitation went viral for its absurd content and raised some questions within the Twitter community. Like any other event, this wedding invitation comes with a list of items and prices that has left Twitter users in a state of confusion.

Confuse juga ini jemputan perkahwinan ke pameran? pic.twitter.com/PPzpz4RVKJ

— نقيّ 🇵🇸 (@naqyaaa) July 12, 2022

A Twitter user by the name @naqyaaa posted a rather peculiar wedding invitation that was set to take place at the end of this year. She shared the invitation on her account with the caption “This is confusing, is this an invitation to a wedding or an exhibition?”. At the time of writing, the tweet had obtained more than 12k likes and almost 6k retweets.

Apart from the usual details such as the date and venue of the wedding, guests are required to pay RM50 per person for the entry ticket into the wedding and the buffet, separately. According to the invitation, guests will also be charged RM20 per piece if they intended to take a picture alongside the bride and groom.

Taking it up a notch, the invitation included song requests that will be charged at RM3 and those who propose to sing karaoke will be charged RM2 for 2 songs. But on the bright side(?), guests will receive 50% discount if they attend the wedding bearing gifts for the couple.

Upon reading the tweet, netizens shared their disbelief in the comments (as seen above). “I have never been to a feast that required me to pay,” wrote a user with a laughing emoji. Other users jokingly mistook the wedding invitation for a concert or a Ramadan buffet.

It begs the question as to why have a big wedding in the first place if you expect guests to pay for everything. A small, intimate wedding should suffice, don’t you think?
