It has been two days since we received news about the tragic passing of the well-respected Hong Kong singer Coco Lee (李玟). While some are still in disbelief that the once cheerful soul would take her own life, others are slowly accepting the loss of yet another talented artist and performer from the music industry.
Following her death, many heartfelt tributes have been pouring in from Coco’s celebrity friends. Yet, the three people who are closely related to her have yet to speak up. On 6th July 2023, we got to hear from her husband, Bruce Rockowitz, and his two daughters, for the first time.
Although the late singer’s relationship with her family looked to be perfect on her socials, it wasn’t. Her husband was known to have cheated on her multiple times in their 10-year relationship, and his daughters even supported his actions. Ever since her supposed falling out with her family more than 2 years ago, rumours have it that they were going through divorce procedures.
Yesterday, Coco’s husband and her two daughters, along with her sisters Carol and Nancy Lee, issued a statement announcing her passing. The statement reads, “It is with immense sadness and reluctance that we announce the passing of CoCo Lee, after a long and courageous battle with depression. CoCo passed away on 5th July 2023 at the age of 48, and all her family was by her side.”
“CoCo was warm, kind, and a beautiful person inside and out. She was a multifaceted singer-songwriter, a performer with overflowing talent, and a mentor who cared about the younger generation. She was also a beloved wife, friend, and family member. Her passion and sincerity brought sunshine to everyone around her. The many lives she has touched will miss her deeply, but her influence and radiance will continue to shine on forever. Details of her funeral will be announced at a later time.”
