Huat ah!

There are plenty of things to look forward to every Chinese New Year − from cookies and mandarins to loud drums of the lion dance, the greatest thing about welcoming Chinese New Year is the reunion with loved ones. This is a time of the year for everyone to come together and celebrate the successes and memories built in the previous year and wish for a more auspicious year to come.

Understanding that the support of loved ones and family is what helps get people through tough times, Grant’s Whisky has concocted two special cocktails to welcome and celebrate this Chinese New Year. Using familiar ingredients to the Chinese household such as ginger, Pu’er Tea and Dom Benedictine, these cocktails are not only easy to make, they’re also the perfect crowd pleasers.

Treat your loved ones to the cocktails by Grant’s Whisky as you welcome an auspicious year together. Cocktail recipes are as follows:

Huat Ah! Punch

Ingredients:

  1. 1000ml Cold Brewed Pu’er Tea
  2. 200ml Lemon Juice
  3. 250gm Light Brown Sugar
  4. 700ml Grant’s 8 Year Old
  5. 700ml Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum

Brew tea overnight in cold water. Add lemon, sugar and tea to a punch bowl, stir to dissolve sugar. Add the Grant’s 8YO and Sailor Jerry, refrigerate to keep cold. When ready to serve add large block of ice to prevent dilution and top with champagne. Serve with citrus zests and star anise.
