Channeling The Fiery Dragon With The Oakley Lunar New Year Eyewear

Oakley is celebrating the rich tradition of Chinese culture this Lunar New Year by taking inspiration from the powerful spirit of the Wood Dragon, the Chinese Zodiac for 2024. The new festive collection is all about embracing the bold future.

As you may know, the dragon is not only the mightiest creature but also the only mythical entity in the Chinese zodiac. It is revered for its inherent courage, tenacity, and intelligence. These traits are reflected in the four-piece 2024 Oakley Lunar New Year Collection: a reimagination of 2 iconic eyewear styles – Holbrook and Sutro – plus Line Miner Goggles and a MOD1 helmet.

As aforementioned, the Holbrook and Sutro eyewear styles have a new lease of life thanks to the Prizm 24K lenses. These lenses are designed to enhance contrast and colour while reducing glare. This doesn’t just enhance the wearer’s vision but it’s also able to adapt to varying light conditions – making it a must-have during sunny summer days  when it’s super bright during the day.

Another highlight about the Prizm 24K is the bronze base tint that gives off a warm appearance. The first thing you’d notice the eyewear? The gold colour. The Holbrook eyewear (pictured below) is further embellished with gold stems with designs that echo lunar shadows and moon phases, further elevating the mystique element and allure on this fashionable item.

Thoughts on the Oakley Holbrook Lunar New Year eyewear:

Pros:

  • Functional design for the Malaysian climate weather
  • Stylish and goes well with the CNY festive outfit
  • Excellent clarity and protection from the sun’s rays
  • Comfortable to wear

Cons:

  • May not appeal to those who don’t like gold/ bronze
  • Might be above budget for the average bloke

Besides the Holbrook and Sutro eyewear collection, Oakley has also introduced Line Miner Goggles with Prizm Snow Torch (perfect for winter sports enthusiasts) that is equipped with the signature geometrical pattern on the strap, as well as the MOD1 helmet. The latter serves as a protective gear and also a piece of art to add to your collection.

The Oakley Lunar New Year collection is available in select Oakley stores and on Oakley.com.
