They say “there’s always light at the end of the tunnel” but we can’t seem to catch a break with our own public transportation. After what’s been happening with RapidKL and its LRT services, people are now doubtful that the issues will ever be resolved. Malaysian citizens, especially those who live and work in the city, are justifiably angry at the public transport company.

As mentioned in our previous story, many netizens are demanding compensation for the damages and losses they’ll be experiencing this week. However, it seems that compensation may not be enough as more and more netizens are now demanding those in positions of power to resign.

Earlier today (9th November), Rapid Rail held a press conference to discuss the issues regarding the disruptions of the 16 LRT stations along the Kelana Jaya line. The conference panels included the Prasarana team led by Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah, President & Group CEO of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad. During the press conference, the CEO addressed the cause of the LRT disruptions.

Unfortunately, the company still could not identify the root of the problem but they are currently looking into it. “Rapid Rail is being assisted by a special team from the Thales Group Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) from Toronto, Canada that is expected to arrive tomorrow to look for a short- and long-term solution to this,” he said. He also stated that these experts are needed to identify the issue to keep the passengers safe

Despite promising that they’ll come up with a solution as soon as possible, Malaysians were not satisfied with the answers given. Many took to Twitter to voice their disappointment and even demand the CEO and higher-ups of Prasarana and RapidKL resign from their positions as netizens believe they’ve failed to do their jobs.

Look at this.

Somehow, we hve been brought back to 1998 when even PutraLRT didn't exist. The lives of hundreds of thousands of people hve been disrupted.

This is not acceptable.

At the time of writing, there is still no word from the Ministry of Transport nor from the Minister, Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong himself. The tentative LRT suspension is expected to last until 15th November, but we know better than to keep our hopes up.
