Hype Eats: CC By Mel’s New Menu Will Delight Breakfast & Brunch Lovers

There’s always a long line of customers at CC By Mel whenever we drop by – and for good reason too. The ambience is inviting and comfortable, but more importantly the food here is not only aesthetically pleasing, it’s hella delicious too!

Just recently, the Japanese fusion dining spot expanded their menu to include breakfast meals that are worth waking up early for. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, foodies can drop by this Bukit Jalil restaurant to get the right start to your day.

Breakfast Galore

As you can see on the left photo, the Nihon Eden Salad (RM15) has a lot greens in it. The healthy meal includes red and green oak leaf, Mizuna, Ajitama, corn, tomatoes, as well as Edamame that combine several vitamins and minerals together. They are mixed with Yuzu dressing that has a citrusy taste to complement the ingredients in the bowl.

For something heavier, the Breakfast Toast (RM20) has scrambled eggs, sauteed tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms, spinach, and Grana Padano served on sourdough bread with salad on the side. If you’re not a big eater, we’d recommend sharing this with another, so you’d have space for other food items too.

Out the Smoothie Bowl options, we went with the Dragon Berry flavour. It comes with dragon fruit, strawberry slices, a generous amount of blue berries mixed with milk honey, granola mix, Acai berry and coconut flakes. It’s refreshing to the palate and bound to sweeten up your day.

For those who simply can’t get enough of blueberries, we’d recommend Dragon Berry Overnight Oats or you can also opt for the Twilight Granola (that’s served on a coconut shell). However, we already have our sights set on Choco Overnight Oats and Summer Granola (easily the most visually colourful of the bunch).

The Lobster Brioche

With the help of Chef Jordan, CC By Mel also introduced the delectable Lobster Brioche. It’s priced at a whopping RM65, cause as you know, Lobster meat don’t come cheap. This new dish features the Boston Lobster in a Brioche bun, dressed with Yuzu Kyuri, Spicy mayo, Miso butter, and Ebiko. There’s a generous portion of sliced lobster meat that offer such a sweet, delicate flavour.

The eatery even posted a short behind-the-scenes video of how Chef Jordan prepares the Lobster Brioche in advanced. While we love lobster roll very much, it’s interesting to see the time and dedication it takes to prep. The head chef explains that he starts of with the sauce (using Sriracha and Japanese Mayo) before cutting the Japanese Kyuri (cucumber) and marinating it. The last step is the poaching of lobster and its Instagrammable presentation.

Our Personal Favourites

If this is your first time dining in at CC By Mel and you’re spoilt for choice, we have 2 recommendations in mind. For all you pasta lovers who also enjoy spicy food, one can’t go wrong with the White Tiger Olio. It’s served with juicy Tiger Prawns, Asari Clams, and Hotate Scallops that sit on a beautiful bed of pasta perfection. The Katsuobushi (or bonito flakes) has a smoky flavour when it meets the tongue, while the Dashi, brown butter and chili flakes help enhance the overall taste with an extra kick to the senses.

Meanwhile, the Unagi Donabe remains a hot favourite among foodies. Served in a claypot, we like our eel when it’s slightly char and tender when we bite into it. Unagi typically takes longer to prepare because it is first charcoal-grilled, then steamed to remove the extra fat, before it is grilled again. The process takes approximately 20 minutes or more but the wait is worth it. The Unagi Donabe is a hearty meal that we’ll happily finish down to the last grain. It’s lip-smacking good!

It’ll be a sin if you don’t save space for desserts. Among its offers are the Pistachio Brownie and Nutella Croffle.  As part of CC By Mel’s new menu, the croffle (basically a marriage between a croissant and a waffle) comes in 4 distinct flavours – Banoffee, Biscoff, Matcha, and Nutella. When eaten fresh, the croffle is crispy on the outside but it’s soft and light in the inside. We love the juxtaposition, especially when paired with the yummy Nutella and baked Almond nibs. Similarly, chocolate lovers will also love the Pistachio Brownie for its rich chocolate taste and crunchy exterior.

How to get to CC By Mel:
