Carrie Underwood may have gone through “40-50 stitches” to her face after falling down but that pale in comparison to what she’s been experiencing in the past 2 years.
The 7-time Grammy winner, who is currently pregnant with her 2nd child with husband Mike Fisher, revealed that she’s had 3 miscarriages since early 2017.
“2017 just wasn’t how I imagined it. I’d kind of planned that 2017 was, you know, going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby. We got pregnant early 2017, and it didn’t work out,” the 35-year-old singer told CBS correspondent Tracy Smith during her emotional interview with “CBS Sunday Morning”.
“Got pregnant again in the spring, and it didn’t work out. Got pregnant again, early 2018. Didn’t work out. So, at that point, it was just kind of like, ‘Okay, like, what’s the deal? What is all of this?‘” Underwood continued, before adding, “‘Cause I would literally have these horrible things going on in my life, and then have to go smile and, like, do some interviews or, like, do a photo shoot or something, you know?”
After suffering her 2nd miscarriage in 2017 and a 3rd in 2018, the “American Idol” winner tried to rationalised her pain of losing those babies with the fact that she’s already has 3-year-old son Isaiah. Still, the experience was painfully heartbreaking.
“I had always been afraid to be angry. Because we are so blessed. And my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world. And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s okay, because he’s amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No…and I got mad,” she said.

Last month, Underwood announced that she expecting a new baby via her social media. Her latest album, “Cry Pretty”, which was largely inspired by the emotions she felt during the challenging time, just debuted.
