We always encourage people to be true to themselves. But, we can also admit that it’s easier said than done. Well, not for Bryan Wee. Not only is he unbothered by people’s opinions of him, the local internet celebrity also has no qualms about sticking up for himself!
Most people will know Bryan Wee from his many, many controversies, such as dressing sexily in public and insulting the Johor royal family. Recently, people have been ragging Bryan for his crossdressing and accused him of changing his gender! But, Bryan has decided to clarify his gender and explained why he indulges in his feminine side.
It’s no secret that the influencer has always loved dressing up. In fact, his socials are cluttered with photos of him looking pretty in dresses, makeup, and wigs! While many support his hobby, others have not been as kind. In fact, someone recently commented that he was neither male nor female.
Well, yesterday (18th October), Bryan took to his socials to refute the allegation. “(You) say I’m neither male nor female, (just) save your saliva. I won’t change my beautiful (looks) because of your words,” he reprimanded. “I will always be beautiful,” Bryan added that regardless of their opinion of him, it truly didn’t matter to him. “Oh yes,” he added. “I (won’t) change my gender, I still want to go to the men’s toilet to meet my true love.”
However, Bryan later returned to explain himself further. It’s clear to see that the influencer truly believes in being true to himself. However, he clarified that it did not mean changing his gender from a man to a woman. “To be yourself is to express your inner self,” he said. “You don’t need to pretend to be yourself, try to be someone you are satisfied with (being).”
Said wisdom didn’t come to him overnight. In fact, Bryan experienced the discomfort of being someone he wasn’t for himself. “I have always been very feminine since I was a child,” he shared. “Many people laughed (at me), so I changed myself. But, I found that I was unhappy like this. Why was I so tired of living?” Bryan soon came to the conclusion that it was because he was conforming to others’ ideas of him.
“You don’t have to force (their) ideas on yourself. There is no need to change yourself for their opinions,” he stated. “If (they) don’t like you, just let them go. The earth won’t stop turning because they hate you. Believe that people who like you (for you) will always appear. The world is so big, and there are so many people. There will always be someone who will appreciate the real you.”
Fans were quick to flock to his socials to offer their support. Several shared that they admired the influencer for his optimism and personality. Others shared how Bryan’s content made them laugh. Well, Bryan’s community proves that there are plenty of people who like his true self!
