The movie “Little Sushine (小胖流浪记)” have been loved by many when it was first released in 2009 in the form of a DVD film. Just this year, there was a remade of the popular film, which brought back a lot of childhood memories among Malaysians.
Through Malaysian actress, Lim Ching Miau (林静苗), we were sadly informed about the passing of Batu Lim (林建辉), an actor who starred in “Little Sushine”. It was reported that the actor passed away at the age of 46 in his sleep on 20th May 2023.

Many of Batu’s friends and family grieved over the death of the well-respected and hardworking Malaysian actor. In Ching Miau’s Facebook post, she mentioned one of her most unforgettable memories of her close friend.
“I still remember the days when we were background actors. One of the most memorable moment was when you caused me to receive a few actual slaps from the female lead. At first, the cheat cut was a success, but you lah, you kept laughing during the take. In the end, the director was really angry and wanted to it to be real. The both of us were slapped a couple of times, and then I was laughing while tearing up while also scolding that you brought this upon me (it really hurt).”
Ching Miau went on to share stories from their 20+ years of precious friendship. From the both of them stepping into the tour guide industry to them working hard so they are able to pursue their dreams of being part of the entertainment circle, one can see how much Ching Miau appreciated Batu throughout her life.
“Yes, I know it’s for real now, you’ve really left. I’m really thankful that you passed away in your sleep. I think this is the most non-painful way to leave, or it can be counted as pretty happy, friends said that this is how good people leave the world, yes, you’re definitely a good person, the Batu that everyone loved. Farewell friend, tonight is meant to remember you well. All of my memories (shared with you) are beautiful. Thank you for all the joy you have brought me, thank you for coming into my life, thank you for the days when we were just small actors, thank you. Love you #520, rest in peace, I’ll remember you in my heart ❤️”
Rest in peace, Batu. You’ll be remembered by many. Thank you for giving us one last chance to witness your hard work and dream through “Little Sushine”.
