The official Valentine’s celebration lasts for only a single day. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to show our loved ones our appreciation. And, what better way to do so than with The Signatures of Love, a Valentine’s Afternoon Tea created by Banyan Tree KL and luxury brand Acqua Di Parma!
This collaboration between Banyan Tree KL and Acqua Di Parma has resulted in a delightful collection of desserts and bites. Allow their creation to bewitch your eyes and excite your tongue as you enjoy this elegant spread. Inspired by Acqua Di Parma’s latest Signatures of the Sun fragrance, this Valentine’s afternoon tea is not one to miss out on!
As always, the Valentine’s Afternoon Tea comes with both savoury and sweet treats. But, of course, the collaboration brings something unique to the table. Inspired by Acqua di Parma’s iconic Golden Fruits, this collection has infused curated ingredients such as Calabrian Bergamot, citrus and orange, to add a little zest and pep to your celebration!
So, if you delight in tart tastes, the Love Note, Citrusy Passion, The Admirer and Orange’s Cheesy Affair are definitely the ones for you. Our favourite had to be the Citrusy Passion, with a nice balance of tartness and sweetness thanks to the speculoos ganache. Despite its main ingredient being lemon, the Admirer was not as sour as we thought. And the Love Note proved to be a delight to eat, what with its slight bitter notes and crunchy texture. But, if you really love oranges, you cannot miss out on Orange’s Cheesy Affair, which marries a creamy cheesecake with orange zest and curd.
But, don’t forget to balance out all that tartness with some sweet treats as well. The Heart’s Rhythm is an immediate eye-catcher with fresh strawberries decorating its top. The tart’s crust made of almond also adds a nice crunch to everything. And, the Emotion Gem promises a very sweet time, thanks to its combination of milk chocolate mousse and blueberry. Of course, Banyan Tree’s popular scones— classic and rose— with homemade clotted cream and fruit jam are a definite must as well.
Sweets aside, the savoury bites provide a nice round up to the meal. We recommend starting with the Cloud of Emotions, as you’ll want to enjoy the delicate yet vibrant taste of potato espuma with wild mushroom and black truffle. Also, the Warm Sunshine and Everlasting Affection were delicious morsels we wish we had more of.
The soft-shell crab in The Warm Sunshine paired very nicely with the Kaluga caviar and the yuzu added a bit of tangyness, making it enjoyable to eat. As for Everlasting Affection, well, chicken pâté has never tasted so good. With the raisin bread’s sweetness, it was a definite delight on our tongues. Our favourite however, was the Scottish Romance. The grapefruit confit really elevates the dish by providing a burst of sweetness to the smoked salmon sandwich.
Of course, the afternoon tea is paired with a selection of gourmet coffee and tea for your pleasure. After all, what’s an afternoon tea without a drink?
