The case of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh’s (谢侑芯) murder is still ongoing, with no clear indication whether Malaysian singer Namewee (黄明志) had something to do with it. Nevertheless, many are convinced that the star needs to be held accountable for Iris’ passing.
On 19th November 2025 (Wednesday), Taiwanese influencer Sprite Fang (方祺媛) called out Namewee through her Facebook page, mocking his job-seeking post. Earlier in the week, the singer shared on social media that all his scheduled work had been cancelled because of the recent case. As such, Namewee is searching for job opportunities, saying he’s willing to do odd tasks to make ends meet.

Sprite, who has been an outspoken critic of Namewee since Iris’ passing, shared a sneering post regarding his call for work. In her post, the influencer said, “Even if you’re broke, at least you still have your life. You can still write songs and earn money. Meanwhile, the rich (Iris) don’t even have a life to enjoy their wealth”. She also directly criticised the media personality for the death of her friend.
The social media figure called for Namewee to take responsibility for Iris’ passing, lamenting that if the influencer had never gone to Malaysia to visit the singer, she could still be alive and well in Taiwan. Sprite also pushed for Namewee to go to Taiwan to pay respects to Iris “with his utmost sincerity”. She ended her post, writing, “Death is not scary. What is most scary is being forgotten by everyone!”

While investigations into Iris’ murder are still ongoing, authorities have found no evidence that Namewee had a role in her death. However, Kuala Lumpur police chief CP Datuk Fadil Marsus previously suggested that the two media personalities had a “special relationship”. At the same time, Namewee is also facing charges for drug use and possession, with his next court hearing set for December.
Despite the ongoing criticism, Namewee appears to maintain his innocence in the case. Only time will tell whether he played a role in Iris’ passing. What are your thoughts on this?
