Not many can brag about living in a mansion that inspired a Marvel superhero’s home but Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz (real name Kasseem Dean) could certainly have some bragging rights. For those curious, this particular home provided the inspiration to Tony Stark’s Razor Point bachelor pad in “Iron Man”.
Swizz Beatz had his eyes on the 11,000 square-foot mansion in La Jolla, California since 2007 when he saved it as his iPhone background. In 2019, his dream came true when the property was going onto the real estate market. “I was low-key manifesting it,” Swizzy said. “When your screen saver comes to life, it’s unbelievably crazy.”
The Hollywood power couple bought the house for $20.8 million and moved there along with their 2 sons, Egypt and Genesis, after leaving New York City. Calling it their “Dreamland”, Alicia explains that this modernist estate – which overlooks the Pacific Ocean – is “a place to create dreams and to be bold enough to dream your wildest dream—for us to even be here is a wildest dream.”
“We wanted something that felt warm, something that feels like a place we’ve traveled around the world,” said the 43-year-old record producer, when talking about the distinction between the modern furnishing and the historic cultures in their home.

Swizz is someone who “loves clean lines and everything feeling clean”, which is why he reached out to interior designer Kelly Behun. “There are many designers who know how to put expensive things into your house, but the soul is missing. Kelly has soul,” she was quoted as saying.
“When you hear a song or something we’ve produced, the foundation is to make people feel good and feel loved. That’s what our art is about,” Alicia added. And “when you come into our home, that’s exactly what we want you to feel. We want you to feel loved, to feel safe, to feel relaxed. We want you to have a great meal. We want you to feel inspired.”
