Agatha Is Back For Upcoming Marvel Miniseries “Agatha All Along.” Here’s What We Know

After many months of waiting, the first trailer for “Agatha All Along” has finally dropped.

Admittedly, it is still hard to wrap our heads around the fact that a villain who debuted in Disney’s first few streaming-exclusive series would be receiving her own standalone spin-off series, but here we are. But scepticism aside, it seems to be a very interesting series, as it looks like it promises a horror show based on the trailer alone.

For those who pretty much dropped the MCU after Endgame, let’s get you up to speed: Agatha Harkness debuted in film/TV with WandaVision as the main antagonist of the show. She is a powerful witch who is obsessed with harnessing Maximoff’s magic. However, after Wanda discovered her true identity and her deception, she syphoned off all of Agatha’s powers and trapped her in a sitcom nightmare.

Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as the deceitful witch, but she is still feeling the ramifications of what happened during the end of WandaVision. In “Agatha All Along,” we can see Agatha being trapped in a new reality, where she believes herself to be a detective in search of a killer. However, we see another “detective” in the scene named Rio Vidal (played by Audrey Plaza) — a new witch who encourages Agatha to break free from Wanda’s illusion.

From there, Agatha embarks on a quest to regain her lost power, as well as assembling her own coven in order to retrieve what was lost. In her adventures, she explores terrifying vistas and locations, including the “Witches’ Road.”

Those who have followed Marvel’s comic book series are aware that the Witches’ Road is an alternate dimension that is only accessible to highly skilled mages. Once inside, visitors must overcome many perils in order to understand and master the true nature of Chaos magic and witchcraft.

Furthermore, the Witches’ Road is actually a relatively new concept in the Marvel universe as a whole, debuting back in July of 2016 in “Scarlet Witch (Vol 2) #3.” With “Agatha All Along” pivoting to a more horror-esque series, we might actually get to see how horrific the Witches’ Road can be on the small screen.

Based on the trailer alone, we can say that it’s a promising horror series, with a bit of Marvel’s brand of humour injected to break the monotony of constant ghouls and ghosts screaming at our faces.

However, we should take things with a grain of salt, as the last horror-esque Marvel entry we had (Multiverse of Madness) kind of fell flat on its face. Hopefully, this time around, the genre earns a proper place in the MCU.

The series will premier on 19th September with the first two episodes on Disney+ Hotstar.
