Ever since Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam, or Ain, exposed a teacher for making rape jokes in class back in 2021, she’s been an active advocate for students, especially women’s safety against any form of harassment. Her continuous fight for justice has been an arduous one as her newfound ‘fame’ has also brought her all sorts of negative attention.
Speaking of which, the university student and her boyfriend have been hit with strong accusations recently that quickly went viral on social media. The advocator finally broke her silence to speak out about what had actually happened. Here’s the story:
The Victim’s Accusations
In case you missed the drama, here’s a brief breakdown for context. About a week ago, a young woman who goes by @APHROD1ETY on Twitter came out with serious accusations against Ain and her boyfriend Shaik Irfan. In the now-deleted thread, the alleged victim accused the boyfriend of sexually harassing her at their University and accused Ain of being an enabler as she didn’t respond to her cries for help.
Since the story broke out, many have jumped on the bandwagon and accused the advocator, who was idle on social media at the time to focus on her exams, of being a hypocrite for not acknowledging another woman’s need for assistance.
Ain’s Side of the Story
The activist finally took to Twitter to address the issue and this is where it got interesting. She provided screenshots of the DM she received from the supposed victim who left her a message at 5am. By 3pm on the same day, the accuser went on to publicly shame and accuse Ain on Twitter for not responding to her in the span of 10 hours.
The 19-year-old further clarified that she wasn’t active on social media as she was prioritising her exams at the time but sadly the damage had already been done. “I didn’t want to say anything wrong or unjustified to the individual and my state of mind was not strong enough to juggle between studies and the shock of such a sensitive matter,” she tweeted.
Ain thanked some of her activist friends for coming to her defense during her absence and apologised for not addressing the situation sooner. The #MakeSchoolASaferPlace movement founder will take legal action against all of the harassment that was thrown at her.
Shaik’s Side of the Story
Ain’s boyfriend Shaik also took to Twitter to address the allegations made against him. As it turns out, the alleged victim was his ex-girlfriend, and admitted that their relationship had always been toxic, which ultimately resulted in their break up.
The accused claimed that @APHROD1ETY has a history of being abusive and manipulative and even provided screenshots of their conversation which she has also used as “evidence” of his alleged harassment. As for his next course of action, Shaik has filed a police report and demanded the individual to retract the false claims and make a public apology.
Netizens, public figures, and other activists have apologised to both Ain and Shaik for believing the false narrative and promised to be more careful in analysing and observing future scenarios such as this before commenting. At the time of writing, there has been no update from the accuser’s side other than going private on Twitter.
