Multi-Grammy-winner Adele has already captivated the music scene with her powerful vocals. Now, the singer is preparing to captivate audiences with her acting chops as she stars in a new film by Tom Ford.
According to reports, the “Easy On Me” vocalist will make her acting debut in “Cry To Heaven”, the latest directorial foray of American fashion designer Tom Ford. The movie is an adaptation of the Anne Rice novel of the same name. It follows the story of peasant-born Guido Maffeo and his student Tonio Treschi, as they both try to succeed in the world of opera. This film marks Tom’s third work, after 2009’s “A Single Man” and 2016’s “Nocturnal Animals”.

The designer will direct, write and produce the film, which is reportedly under pre-production in London and Rome. For now, not much is known about Adele’s role in the project. However, the singer-songwriter will appear alongside a star-studded cast, including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany and Hunter Schafer. “Adolescence” breakout star Owen Cooper is also set to appear, as well as Pedro Pascal’s sister, Lux Pascal.
While this is her first official acting gig, Adele has previously expressed interest in being on the screen. In a 2023 interview, she said, “There is one movie I want to do, but the guy whose movie it would be, he’s not mentally ready to write the script for it.” The singer even mentioned a specific interest in the role, adding that she’d be really good at it. However, it’s not known whether the project she referenced was Tom Ford’s new film.

Meanwhile, the award-winning star has kept a low profile since ending her Las Vegas residency in November 2024. Since then, she announced an indefinite hiatus from music, saying she wanted to “do other creative things just for a little while”. There was also speculation that she would perform at next year’s Super Bowl, which was proven false after the NFL announced Bad Bunny would take the stage.
If you’re looking forward to Adele’s acting debut, you’ll have to wait for “Cry To Heaven” to hit the screens, reportedly in the second half of 2026. Do you think the singer has what it takes to keep up with the rest of the stellar cast?
