Everyone’s celebrating Chinese New Year in their own way. It’s natural to want to take pictures to commemorate the grand celebration, and it’s also a chance to dress up and wear our best outfits.
Well, Angela Yeung Wing (杨颖), better known by her stage name Angelababy, is no different. She recently posted a photoshoot for Chinese New Year on her official Weibo page, clad in a beautiful dress and surrounded by festive ornaments. But netizens were more interested in the other person in the photos.
Featured in her picture was her elusive son, affectionately termed Xiao Hai Mian (小海绵) or Little Sponge, who is eight years old this year! Hai Mian’s first appearance on Weibo was actually only last year when he was seven. Hai Mian’s father, Huang Xiaoming(黄晓明) and Angelababy divorced back in 2022 after 7 years of marriage, and the actress has full custody over the child.
Wishing everyone a happy new year in her caption, Angelababy’s Weibo post surely took netizens by storm, with her elegant attire and the surprise appearance of her son. In her Instagram post, there was also a shot of Hai Mian holding up two lanterns behind Angelababy’s head!
Her followers were extremely supportive, responding positively to the social post. Although Angelababy covered her son’s face with a sticker to hide his identity, many fans commented how the kid looks like his father, Huang Xiaoming, giving him the nickname “mini Huang Xiaoming”.
Many also wished her well for 2025, hoping that every day would be a good day for her and that she’d be blessed in this Year of the Snake. Others praised her latest drama “Everlasting Longing” (相思令), which aired earlier this year. Her portrayal of the main character, Jun Qi Luo (君绮罗), has already been well-loved by netizens, as shown by their mentions of the drama in both her Instagram and Weibo posts.
