You know you’ve made it when you get to be in a Hollywood movie. You don’t get this opportunity everyday especially if you’re from Southeast Asia. If you’re not aware, Yayan Ruhian is one of the few lucky ones to appear in not 1 but 3 Hollywood movies; “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, “Beyond Skyline” and “John Wick: Chapter 3”.

The Indonesian actor also starred in 3 Malaysian movies with his recent one being “Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan” where he played the character Toga. Speaking of “Mat Kilau” and “John Wick 3”, did you know he almost didn’t appear in the 3rd installment because of schedule conflict? Here’s the full story:

Yayan Ruhian is no stranger to action movies as he starred in several local and international movies. But being a well-known actor means that you’re getting offers for all kinds of projects and some of them may clash with one another in terms of filming schedule, so you have to make the tough decision of choosing 1 or having to manage both at the same time. That can’t be easy.

The 53-year-old recently revealed that he had to juggle between two movies which were “John Wick: Chapter 3” and “Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan”. The actor told Tempo, “They [John Wick production] called and asked me to join for filming in May but coincidentally I was in the middle of filming ‘Mat Kilau’ in Malaysia. I had to be professional to the contract and reject the offer.”

However, it didn’t end there. Apparently, just four days after the first call, the production team of Keanu Reeves’ movie called the action star up again and offered to reschedule the filming days. According to Yayan, they were willing to compromise and film his scenes for the movie according to his schedule and availability. Talk about “if it’s meant to be, it will be”.

Check out his scene below.

Guess it all worked out in the end as the Indonesian martial artist managed to appear in both movies. In other news, “Mat Kilau” recently beat “Top Gun Maverick” starring Tom Cruise in Malaysian box office. The movie directed by Syamsul Yusof earned RM12.2 million in just four days of screening.

What do you think of the epic biographic movie?
