Hollywood has lost another star. Actor Robert Carradine, best known for his role in Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire” and the comedy franchise “Revenge Of The Nerds”, has passed away. He was 71.
On 24th February 2026 (Tuesday), news outlets reported that Robert passed away from suicide. His family shared a statement on the matter, writing, “It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away. In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon of light to everyone around him.”

The statement continues, “We are bereft at the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby’s valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder. We hope his journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the stigma that attaches to mental illness. At this time, we ask for privacy to grieve this unfathomable loss. With gratitude for your understanding and compassion.”
Robert came from a family of actors, being the youngest son of John Carradine and the brother of David, Keith and Christopher. His career began in the 1970s, with roles in films like “The Cowboys” and “Mean Street”. In the 2000s, he found a new generation of fans as the father in Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire”.
After his death, the cast of “Lizzie McGuire” took to social media to mourn the passing of their castmate and on-screen family member. Stars Hilary Duff, Jake Thomas and Hallie Todd each shared a touching tribute on their Instagram accounts, expressing grief over the devastating news. All three recalled Robert’s warmth and talent during their time working together on the show.
