Earlier this year, Malaysian actor Ben Amir revealed that he had relocated to the Philippines to start a new life, setting up both his home and business on an island. He reassured fans that he is not retiring from acting and will continue appearing in films and dramas. However, the star is now considering broadening his horizons by pursuing an acting career in the Philippines.
In a recent interview with Malaysian media, Ben shared that he has been learning and improving his Tagalog in the hope that it could open doors to acting opportunities in the country. He also revealed that he has been in touch with a local talent agency.

“I do plan on acting here. They’ve reviewed my profile, seemed interested, and want to meet up. Of course, I’d have to work on my Tagalog in order to work here. They said I could start with non-speaking roles, like doing advertisements. Once I’ve improved the language, then we’ll go from there,” he told reporters. For now, Ben clarified that his main focus remains on his acting career in Malaysia.
When asked about the challenges of learning Tagalog, the 35-year-old said it was not all that different from Malay. “The intonation, spelling and meaning are more or less the same. I’m learning the language through conversations with the locals here on Siargao Island, rather than by formally taking classes,” he explained, adding that the culture is similar to Malaysia, so he had little to no difficulty adjusting to life there.

In other news, Ben Amir recently attended the premiere screening of his latest film “Legasi: Bomba The Movie” at GSC IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. The actor plays the lead role of Amir, a young firefighter, who must rise to prove his true strength by confronting past traumas and leading his team when the tallest skyscraper in the capital is engulfed in flames, threatening the lives of civilians and his fellow comrades.
