Red Velvet’s (레드벨벳) Seulgi (슬기) released her debut solo album, ”28 Reasons”, in 2022, and she subsequently received critical acclaim for the release. Three years later, the idol is making her long-awaited solo comeback with her second extended play, “Accidentally On Purpose”.

SM Entertainment announced the comeback on 18th February 2025 (Tuesday), sharing more details about the release. Seulgi’s new album drops on 10th March 2025 (Monday) – but while we wait for the album, here are some fun facts about the release:

The Teaser Foreshadows A Comic Book Femme Fatale Concept

Right from the get-go, the first teaser for the album hints at a femme fatale concept. For the first teaser, Seulgi wore a ski mask with cat ears. Many fans even said the idol’s appearance in the images is reminiscent of the comic book character Catwoman. The schedule teaser also included many elements that showcased a darker, edgier theme.

The Official Logo Has A Secret Detail

Speaking of Catwoman, the album’s official logo also appears to be inspired by the Batman universe – specifically the Batman logo. However, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed a secret detail in the emblem. Upon closer inspection, it appears that the logo was designed to be an ambigram of S and G. Why S and G? For “Seul Gi”, of course.

Seulgi’s Previous Releases Were Used To Create Spoilers

The planning for the comeback has also received traction for its attention to detail. Before the release of the first teaser, fans noticed “glitches” in some of Seulgi’s previous releases, like how the cover art for her debut album, “28 Reasons”, was flipped upside down on all music streaming platforms. Some noted that these “mistakes” ties back to the album’s title.

The Album Will Have 6 Tracks & 3 Versions

While the official tracklist has yet to be announced, news outlets have reported that the album will include six tracks. The title track is reportedly named “Baby, Not Baby”, and hints of this can be spotted in the teaser image and schedule teaser. As for the physical versions, the album will come in three versions: photo book, mini photobook and sticker version.

The Album Shares The Same Release Date As Yeji & Xiumin’s Solo Projects

As mentioned, the album is slated for release on 10th March 2025. Interestingly, this release date coincides with the release dates for ITZY’s (있지) Yeji (예지) and EXO’s (엑소) Xiumin’s (시우민) solo projects. Yeji is releasing her debut solo album, while Xiumin is making his solo comeback. Despite the competition, many fans have voiced excitement about all three idols releasing new music on the same day.
