Great news for fans of Hong Kong superstar Aaron Kwok (郭富城)! The multifaceted star will make an appearance in Kuala Lumpur later this month for the Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation 2025!
The Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation is an annual celebration of Hong Kong cinema, highlighting upcoming films from the region. This year, the event will take place from 20th to 28th September 2025 at the Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX. Headlining this year’s presentation is Aaron Kwok, whose movie “My First Of May” will open the event. The star will attend the opening ceremony and join in post-screening talks.
The 60-year-old spoke about the event, saying he’s thrilled to return to Malaysia with a project close to his heart. He said, “I’m so happy that My First of May is the opening film in the Kuala Lumpur stop. Malaysian audiences have always been supportive of Hong Kong films, especially realistic stories with strong emotions. This film is about a fallen athlete learning to take responsibility for his family, and I believe it will touch audiences deeply.”
In addition to the screening of “My First Of May”, the Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation will also hold screenings for “Fight For Tomorrow”, “Four Trails” and a re-screening of Aaron Kwok’s critically acclaimed 2019 film, “I’m Livin’ It”. Director James Hung and action directors MJ Chan and Ken Law will also make appearances during the event to share behind-the-scenes insight. Here’s what we know about the event so far:
