It’s well known that Malaysian fans are often very enthusiastic when supporting their favourite stars. Even the celebs themselves have expressed gratitude towards the warm support they’ve received from their local fans.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 2nd December 2025), Chinese actor Chen Zheyuan (陈哲远) made his first appearance in Malaysia for the IQIYI Starship event in Kuala Lumpur. Before the public fan meet at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, the star greeted local media at a press conference in the city centre. Among the topics discussed during the event was the 29-year-old’s first impression of his Malaysian fans.

Chen Zheyuan shared that he arrived in Kuala Lumpur on the evening of 1st December (Monday). Since the actor slept on his flight here, he was still slightly groggy when he got off the plane. However, as he exited the airport gate, he was greeted by a large crowd of fans waiting in an orderly manner. He said, “I woke up immediately! Everyone was very enthusiastic and was chanting my name. They’re very energetic!”
As this is Chen Zheyuan’s first visit to Malaysia, he also made sure to try some local delicacies. He said he had already had durian and barbecued chicken while at Jalan Alor, but hadn’t had the chance to try nasi lemak. When asked to describe Malaysia in three words, Chen Zheyuan chose “enthusiasm, delicious and international”, explaining, “I felt everyone’s enthusiasm as soon as I landed, and I’ve already eaten a lot of delicious food.”

Of course, the event at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur was just as exciting, with tons of fans gathering at the Bukit Bintang mall to catch a glimpse of the actor in person. Selangor’s Princess Tengku Zatashah also made a special appearance, stepping on stage to ask Chen Zheyuan a few questions. The Selangor royalty also shared a few photos she took with the actor on her Instagram, welcoming him to Malaysia.
It’s nice to know that the Malaysian fans have left such a positive impression on Chen Zheyuan. Perhaps the love he received on his first visit will encourage him to return to Malaysia in the future. In the meantime, here are some clips from the press conference and fan meet:
