Singer-songwriter from20 (프롬트웬티), a former member of disbanded K-pop group BIGSTAR, and HELLO GLOOM, also known as Ungjae (나웅재) of IMFACT have always shown their support for people in the LGBTQ+ community. During their tour around Europe, the two would hold up the Pride flag at the end of their performances.
It seems that the love and respect were mutual as the idols shared something they noticed in the treatment they received from women, the queer community and the rest of the people in Europe. Here’s what happened:
During an intimate Q&A session with fans in Amsterdam earlier this week, from20 and HELLO GLOOM revealed how they were treated by some people in the European countries they’ve visited so far. According to the 32-year-old singer, both of them experienced a form of racial discrimination while they were walking in public.
Not wanting the fans to worry, he quickly reassured them that the issue was not as severe, saying, “Actually, it wasn’t anything big. It was just a small percentage of people and this isn’t my first time in Europe. However, it was definitely my first time experiencing racism while we were walking around”. Thankfully for the idols, they noticed something positive during their stay as well.
“After two days here, we realised that only the girls and the gays were really kind to us. We noticed that (these 2 groups) really like us while the others were a bit rude,” the “Demon” artist told the audience. Apart from the aforementioned, it was also revealed that European older women or ajummas (as described by from20) also treated them kindly because of their good looks.
The Q&A session was posted on Twitter where fans were simultaneously disappointed and delighted to hear about the celebs’ experience in Europe. On one hand, they were upset that both from20 and HELLO GLOOM experienced racism during their tour while on the other hand, they were thankful for the women and queer folks who showed them kindness.
Responding to the same tweet, HELLO GLOOM also showed his gratitude for the women and the gays for their warm welcome and treatment. Watch the full video below:
