A parents’ love is often unconditional when it comes to their children. This elderly Chinese couple spotted in a Muslim cemetery certainly proved it.
One netizen shared that they had been visiting their parents’ grave in a Muslim cemetery when they saw an elderly Chinese couple in the area. Curious, they asked the couple about their presence there and were touched to discover they were there for their son who had converted to Islam.
“It was clear what they were doing,” netizen Joy MamaNunai MamaNunai shared in her Facebook post. “They cleaned the grave area and the headstone. Any dirt on the headstone they washed off with a bottle of mineral water which they brought. After that, they seemed to (meditate).” Joy added the couple who looked to be in their 70s had noticed her watching and offered a smile when they were done.
The friendliness prompted Joy to ask: “Is it your child’s grave?” The couple nodded, sharing that their son had converted to Islam after marrying a Malay woman. Unfortunately, he was later diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away four years ago. They then added that they stopped by often to see their son.
“(I) started crying, listening to their story,” Joy admitted. She was touched by the parents’ love for their son, even though he had converted religions. “Their love has no boundaries,” she admired. “This was a lesson for us today, unconditional love for (your) children.”
The comments section was flooded with netizens praying for the deceased son with some sharing they too had been touched by the parents’ love. Others added they too had seen such examples of love in their family members.
Our hearts go out to the parents and like many others, we thank them for showing such love to their son. Hopefully they will be an example to others in how to show unconditional love to our loved ones.
