There is a reason why it’s best to think things through before we speak. In the case of “Ip Man” actor Louis Fan (樊少皇), it would probably have been wiser to think before he posted!
Louis recently celebrated his 7th wedding anniversary with his wife, actress and singer JJ Jia (樊少皇). In fact, JJ even made a post on Weibo to commemorate it. To everyone’s shock however, Louis’s response to that was to declare that he and JJ were divorcing!
The 49-year-old actor has been married to JJ since 2016 and with two daughters. Many were under the impression that they have been happily married for 7 years. And according to JJ’s post, she thought the same. However, Louis’s response came as quite a shock, especially when he allegedly responded with “We are getting divorced“.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Louis later edited his post to read “we” before changing it to “Let’s live in a place where the winter is not cold.” Unfortunately, the damage was already done. Many wondered if there was a problem in the couple’s marriage, including JJ herself. She later shared that she had seen the rumours but was waiting to hear an explanation from her husband. “I’ll see what you (have to) say,” she added.
Luckily, Louis took the opportunity to clarify things. “I originally wanted to say “we left here” but I didn’t expect this hateful associated word,” he stated in another post. Louis added that he had also been distracted by his kids and had been in a brain fog. “My hand slipped and I saw (the mistake), so I edited it quickly,” he added.
Well, his explanation didn’t quite placate JJ. “I thought (you) accidently expressed what was in your heart,” she told Louis. “I was also surprised.” JJ also sarcastically mentioned that she was able to be busy online since Louis was busy with their two kids. “(I’m) still not busy enough, right?” she wrote. “Next time, if you have any ideas, just let me know. Don’t make another typo on the internet and (leave) me figuring out how to respond.”
Some things are certainly meant to be said in person, rather than over the internet. Hopefully the couple will be able to celebrate their 7 years of marriage and work out their differences for the new year!
