The Minister of Youth & Sports, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman recently shut down all the allegations that he had elected a transgender woman as his personal assistant.
The 26-year-old politician further denied all the rumours as well as the viral video that was circulating around the web. The clip featured a mysterious woman – later known as Cleopatra (real name Nur Fathiah Syazwana Shaharuddin) – meeting Syed Saddiq in his office.
“I feel that gossips and slanders are inseparable in the politics world. In this case, someone pointed out that the lady (Cleopatra) is my personal assistant and also my private secretary; that’s obviously a slander. If you want to check then you can proceed and ask the KBS (Ministry of Youths & Sports) officers,” said Syed Saddiq in an interview.
“If you look at the Ministry’s portal, it’s clear that the reports are incorrect,” he further added. In addition, he responded to the controversy surrounding the status of Cleopatra. “I heard the news that the lady is actually a transgender; even some netizens name-called her as ‘pondan’ (transvertite),” commented the young politician.
Syed Saddiq further added, “So I checked with the group and asked if it’s true. I was told that actually the woman came in groups and she wasn’t alone at that time. I was also informed that she is a mother of 2 (biological) children.” He was seen at the parliament lobby yesterday (Tuesday, 22nd October).
Additionally, he took to his Instagram account to express his wish for everyone to put focus on real issues involving Malaysians instead of giving unnecessary attentions to rumours and gossips.
