It’s not often one can brag about celebrating their birthday in the presence of royalty – but this elderly man had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do so and got a free meal as well.
TikTok user @/jafniel71 recently shared a video of his elderly relative celebrating his 80th birthday at the Dolly Dim Sum restaurant at East Coast Mall in Pahang. However, spotted in the background was the former queen of Malaysia, Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, who was dining at the restaurant with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Tunku Azizah even joined the rest of the crowd at the restaurant as they sang a birthday song for the man. After the song ended, the man turned towards Tunku Azizah to show his gratitude for celebrating his special day with him.
The video also revealed that Tunku Azizah offered to pay for the family’s meal as a treat for the man. As a token of appreciation, the 80-year-old said a short prayer for the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang and her family. The TikTok user also revealed in a reply to a comment that the senior citizen even received a RM300 birthday gift from Tunku Azizah, proving her generosity.
The interaction between the man and Tunku Azizah went viral, with the video amassing over 300,000 views. Many netizens said the man and his family were lucky to be treated by the former queen. Many also praised the former queen’s generosity and talked about how humble she was despite her status. Netizens also took the opportunity to wish the elderly a happy birthday and a long life.
