5-Star Hotel Chef Opens Street Food Stall After Job Suspension

Another individual was suspended from his job due to the Covid-19 pandemic – but that didn’t put a stop to his perseverance.

Following the CMCO, a 5-star hotel chef, recognised as Chef Abang Ujie, lost his job after maintaining a stable culinary career for an impressive period of 26 years. However, this unfortunate dilemma did not make him want to give up, but motivated him to take his culinary skills to the streets instead.

As the significant rise in job losses undoubtedly feels like the nation and the entire world is being hit by a sudden earthquake, we’re certain Chef Abang Ujie felt the same way too. While that may be the case, this inspiring Chef did not let the negativity hold him back.

After being suspended from his career indefinitely, Chef Abang Ujie had initially planned to join a food delivery service. However, his wife had another idea when she urged him to make use of his lifelong skills and open a food stall instead. One thing then led to another, and now the pair run a street food stall together!

This new venture, known as the Dapoor Cik Da Stall, offers a variety of reasonably priced homemade dishes, ranging from bihun noodles, lasagna, and even mouth-watering desserts such as cheese tarts, Nutella cookies and bread & butter puddings!

How impressive! And keep in mind that all these dishes are made by a 5-star hotel chef, so of course they taste absolutely heavenly. Take a look at more of their delicious menu items here.

“I have experience serving food for 26 years. But when the first customer arrived at the stall, I frenzied like I’ve never worked before,” said Chef Abang Ujie when speaking to KL Foodie. “We should never feel ashamed when gaining new experience. Remember that we should only give our best when surviving a crisis.”

We couldn’t agree more, Chef Abang Ujie. Thank you for reminding us that we all have hope to get through tough times – even if it’s during a pandemic.

Whenever you’re in the mood for good food, do drop by at the Dapoor Cik Da Stall near Petronas Bandar Damai Perdana, or contact them directly through Instagram or telephone to place your orders! Dapoor Cik Da will soon be available on GrabFood as well.
