There’s a reason why The Capitol Kempinski consistently welcomes back returning customers when they visit Singapore. This hotel property has the ability to transport travelers back in time with its beautifully conserved architecture and bespoke hospitality. Timeless yet contemporary, you’re in for a luxurious experience as soon as you step foot into The Capitol Kempinski Singapore.
Renovated by acclaimed architect and Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Richard Meier, this luxury hotel masterfully blends old-world charm with modern luxury, as reflected in its two iconic buildings – the neoclassical Capitol Building and the Venetian Renaissance-inspired Stamford House – which are now linked.
The Kempinski Experience
With 155 guestrooms and suites under its roof, spanning from 42 sq m, those who have stayed within this property will tell you that no two stays are exactly the same. From the embossed wallpaper of Venetian design and original Chengal wood flooring, to dramatic archways blend of Victorian and Art Deco influences, each of these room categories are unique in their own way.
Despite being a heritage building, the elegant rooms are surprisingly spacious thanks to the spacious layouts and high corniced ceilings, which create a luxurious sense of openness. We also felt soothed by the room’s muted cream, teal and beige color palette. The double vanities in the bathroom, free-standing bathtub, Coffee from Bacha, Nespresso coffee machine and complimentary minibar added to the opulence of our experience.
Gastronomic Adventure
The Capitol Kempinski is also home to 15 Stamford, a renowned restaurant that excels in offering traditional Asian flavours with a modern twist. The menu includes standout dishes like the signature charcoal-grilled meats, beef rendang short ribs, Hokkaido scallop ceviche, and a flavorful laksa-inspired prawn dish. Each dish is plated artfully, often with unexpected combinations that highlight the chef’s avant-garde approach to flavor and presentation.
In the morning, 15 Stamford serves as the hotel’s breakfast area. It’s mainly à la carte buffet style with local favourites such as Nasi Lemak, noodle soup, dim sum, assorted fruits and more. Guests are pampered with exotic options (like honeycomb, truffle honey and rich chocolate spreads) that pair well with French toast or waffles.
Just a few steps away, The Bar at 15 Stamford is the perfect place to unwind and sample a wide range of cocktail classics, including its signature Plantation 1840 rum cocktail. Inspired by rum-focused flavors, The Bar offers an impressive collection of rum along with specialty cocktails that showcase exotic ingredients, like pandan, lemongrass, and Asian spices.
Wellness & Relaxation
Another personal favourite was a trip to The Spa, an oasis dedicated to relaxation and rejuvenation. With its personalised treatments, the therapist tailors each session to meet the guest’s specific needs and preferences. We opted for the Aromatherapy massage, an hour of blissful relaxation where we got to unwind in a calm and serene ambience.
The hotel’s outdoor saltwater pool is an ideal spot to kick back and relax during the day while fitness enthusiasts can stay on top of their workout regimen at the gym, kitted out with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment.

While Kempinski has a smaller footprint compared to the other larger hotels in the area, the team here offered an excellent personalised attention that left a lasting impression.
