Nothing screams ‘comfort food’ more than a hot, spicy bowl of ramen! You can cook it up anywhere, anytime, because all you need is the ramen itself. But plain ramen is so boring, and honestly, it’s no fun eating just ramen noodles without extra crunch elements. So, if you’re a ramen addict looking for new ways to spice up your noodle bowl, we have some home-made recipes from YouTube that’ll make your taste buds happy.

These are recipes from YouTubers who make delicious and flavourful ramen with ingredients that are just lying about in your kitchen:

1. Ramen With Hot Oil, Crispy Eggs – Chinese Style

YouTube video

Make your ramen soup powder extra flavoursome with this recipe. Cook your ramen in boiling water, as usual, but do not add the soup powder into the boiling ramen. Instead, once your ramen is boiled to the consistency you like, drain out the water and rinse your noodles under cold water for a bit.

Then, get a bowl, put in the soup powder, add some black pepper, a teaspoon of vinegar, throw in some sesame seeds and one minced garlic. In a separate pan, pour 2 tablespoons of neutral oil (flavourless oil) and heat it up over the stove. Now, this is the best part – once the oil is heated, pick the pan up and pour the oil immediately over the dry ingredients in the bowl that you prepared a while ago. And enjoy the sizzling sound it makes, together with the spicy aroma that will surely make you lick your lips. Mix it all up real good and add your ramen noodles – give it one last stir.

Now, for the toppings – fry up a crispy, sunny-side-up egg and place it in the bowl. Additionally, you may garnish your dish with green onions. And there you have it – a perfect late night snack.

2. Ramen With Steak & Half-Boiled Eggs

YouTube video

For all steak and ramen lovers, this is the divine ramen recipe that will completely satisfy your cravings. Luxury and comfort combined in one hot bowl of ramen. Here’s how to make it:

If you have any left-over steak in your fridge, this will be a good chance to make a 10/10 dish from that steak. First, start off by boiling your eggs – remember to only boil for 6-7 mins for soft-boiled – and if you don’t like runny eggs, then just go along with your regular timing for hard boiled. Next, in a heated cooking pan, pan-sear the steak however you prefer – whether you like it medium rare or well done. You can add fresh thyme while the steak is searing.

Then, make your ramen as usual, with the soup, and leave it aside for a second. Once your steak is done, take it out of the pan, let it cool off a bit and slice it up. Time to decorate – in the ramen bowl, cut up the soft-boiled eggs and place them in there along with the steak. Bring out the master chef in you and arrange your ramen bowl aesthetically, because, you know the rule! You gotta take a picture and let people know you made that! Oh! For garnishing, you can add some sesame seeds, chilli oil and just a dash of green onions.

3. Rich & Thick Ramen Broth

YouTube video

A luscious and scrumptious ramen that is packed with different flavours. Get your water boiling and into that, put in some diced tomatoes, a sprinkle of sesame oil, add in a spoonful of chilli sauce – preferably Lao Gan Ma sauce (halal). Then, add in your ramen soup powder together with the ramen noodles. For the toppings, some stir-fried sausages and vegetables. Bak choy is perfect for this ramen recipe – and finish it off by sprinkling some green onions on top.

And there you go – a rich and mouth-watering ramen dish waiting to be devoured.

4. Ramen Sichuan Style

YouTube video

Sichuan-style ramen is simple, yet it gives the perfect spiciness and tanginess, and it’s pretty similar to the chilli oil ramen recipe.

In a bowl, place 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds, garlic, chilli flakes and green onions each. Into it, add 3 tablespoons of pre-heated hot oil and mix it around. Next, into that mixture add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 3 tablespoons of Chinese vinegar, and also season with salt and sugar to your liking. After adding all the ingredients, your bowl should now have a red, hot sort of broth-like consistency.

Add the boiled ramen into the bowl together with some pan-fried sausages and a sunny-side-up egg with some chopped green chilli for the extra heat. If you can’t take spicy food and you’re hoping to increase your spice tolerance, definitely try this out.

5. Mayo With Raw Egg Ramen

YouTube video

Place your ramen soup powder into a bowl and add some minced garlic, an egg yolk (only take the yolk), some plop of mayo and give this a good stir. In the meantime, boil your ramen noodles. Now this is the tricky but fun part – the water that was used to boil the ramen must be added into the bowl little by little, while mixing the ingredients in the bowl. So add a spoon of the hot ramen water and mix the ingredients and then continue till you’re happy with the amount of broth that’s in the bowl. This is done in order to cook the raw egg yolk as well as blend the ingredients well together.

Then, whatever that is left in the ramen boiling pot, add it to the bowl – but make sure to throw out the excess water. Add any topping you want, like green onions and chilli oil with some boiled egg on the side. Oh! If you love seaweed, you may add that as a garnish to your ramen bowl as well. And voila! You have yourself a delicious and easy ramen.
